Normally reliable sources
(viz. the organizers) have reported that the 27th POMs
went off very successfully. According to them, there were 90
participants registered at the symposium. These consisted of 37 faculty
+ industry types: 8 from USA, 1 from England (Dr. A.J. Kirby, I
presume), and the remainder from Canada. As well, there were 53
students + post-docs, of which 5 were from USA. It is encouraging to
see that the number of participants is keeping up, especially in
respect of the attendance by graduate students and post-docs.
On the program side,
there were 32 poster presentations, 24 oral presentations and one
invited lecture. This last was given by Professor James
M. Tanko (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University), who presented a talk entitled: "Radical Ion
Clocks ... What makes 'em tick?".
More details of the
program can be found at the 27th
POMs program webpage
Just over 60 people
attended the Banquet on the Saturday evening.
A sincere and hearty
"Well done!" to Monica
and Adrian,
and to all their helpers.
Also, a very special
"Thank you" to the various symposium sponsors:
