Lecture 9: ANCOVA

February 07, 2023 (5th week of classes)

Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA)

ANCOVA is a general linear model that blends ANOVAs (discrete factors, i.e., predictors) and regressions (continuous predictors) in a multifactorial design (multiple predictors). It is an important inferential tool particularly when attempting to control for differences among groups in regards to a continuous predictors while making inferences about how the factor influenced group differences in regards to a response variable.

There are several conditions and considerations when deciding to conduct ANCOVAs; these are reviewed in lecture 9 (this lecture) and lecture 10.
