Lecture 15: Mixed models part 1

March 16, 2023 (8th week of classes)

Understanding the hierarchical nature of data - the needs of considering random effects in data and mixed models

In this lecture we will understand what is meant by the hierarchical nature of data and what are random effects. These principles are required for understanding mixed-model effects.

We will also read parts of the paper “A Brief Introduction to Mixed Effects Modelling and Multi-model Inference in Ecology” by Harrison et al. (2018) posted in Moodle.
